Car Catcher: Fuel Injected, Split Window Corvette

This 1963 Corvette is not just a split-window, but one sporting the original injected engine and four-speed box as well as a known history.

This particular car is an exceptionally correct and undisturbed example which has won the NCRS Bloomington Gold award, the Chevy Nationals ‘Gold Spinner Award’ Corvette, and the NCRS ‘Top Flight’ award,” states Fantasy Junction, the seller, “all testaments to its superb quality.”

The Corvette was restored in 1990. “Remarkably, the Corvette had been so well preserved and maintained and had never received any body damage, nor had the body ever been removed from the frame,” the listing states. “As a result, the factory body and frame integrity was maintained with the body remaining on the chassis throughout the careful and meticulous restoration.”

Asking price is $165,000.

Agree that they are great looking cars, but they drive like ox carts, heavy and ponderous. Had two friends that owned them, one a 63 (though not FI) and one that raced a 67 with small block. Both were good looking poor handling cars, fast in a straight line.

Have to wonder at the fact that it took GM 60 years to turn the original car into something that handled really well. Everything from C7 on is really well done.
