Car Catcher: A Jaguar XK 150 Converted From a Fixed Head Coupe to Drophead Coupe

From the outside, this 1959 Jaguar XK 150 may look like a fairly normal Drophead Coupe, but this particular Jaguar began life as a Fixed Head Coupe.

The short version of the story is that this XK 150 is believed to have been sold new in North America as an SE Fixed Head Coupe, but returned to England in 1990. There, the car received a "no-expense spared" restoration by Jaguar expert and owner of Jag Spares International, David Coleman. As part of the restoration, the XK 150 was not only converted to a Drop Head Coupe, but also received disc brakes, a stainless steel exhaust, 16-inch wire wheels and a five-speed manual from an XJS.

The listing points out that the Jaguar was stolen and recovered sometime in 1998 before it returned to the United States by 2012.

The odometer currently reads at 51,571 kilometers (about 32,044 miles), although actual mileage is unknown.

Also included in the sale are "a tool roll and tools, correct jack, and mallet."

I hate to be pedantic, but XK150s all came from the factory with disc brakes. Not very good ones, and easy to upgrade to better calipers, which is probably what happened here.
