Car Catcher: That Time Lancia Put a Ferrari V8 in a Front-Wheel-Drive Thema

The front-wheel-drive Thema—based off of the same platform as the Saab 9000 and Alfa Romeo 164—came with trump card for six years of its production run: A Ferrari-sourced V8 version known as the 8·32. The Ferrari V8 did undergo some changes: a cross-plane crank and a different firing order, to list a couple. Power output is 212 horsepower when not equipped with a catalytic converter, with the only transmission offered being a five-speed manual. This 1987 Lancia Thema 8·32 is a Series I example finished in Winner Red over Poltrona Frau leather, and can be found on ebay Motors with a buy-it-now price of $22,750.

Ooh. That's my kind of absurd right there.

Ands it's factory! Also, I highly recommend doing a search for how one sounds. It's surprisingly unFerrari.

Oh and a retractable spoiler! I didn't even notice that at first.

Allegedly the Thema is one of the first production cars with active aero. I haven't done any in-depth research to confirm if that's the case, but it's still cool nevertheless.
