Car Catcher: A Rare, Open-Top Ferrari 550

Sponsored article presented by RM Sotheby's.

This 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina is number 375 of 448 examples built to celebrate 70 years of Pininfarina.

The 550 Barchetta is also said to one of the few examples of a true "Barchetta" as it came from the factory without a roof–buyers just got a little soft top deemed appropriate for very temporary use.

Powered by a 5.5-liter V12, this black-on-black Ferrari is going up for auction as part of RM Sotheby's Driving Into Summer online sale.

Side note: It's been said that the original production was supposed to be capped at 444, but Ferrari ended up building four more because of Japan's number superstitions.
