Car Catcher: A Ready-To-Drive Aston Martin DBR2 Replica

Sponsored article presented by Fantasy Junction.

Considering that only two real DBR2s believed to have been made, the chance to own one are slim to none—and that's not even considering how much one would cost if it did go up for sale.

Instead, maybe the best option is this 1958 Aston Martin DBR2 Recreation.

Said to be the result of a three-year build lead by former Team Surtees constructor Bob Egginton, this DBR2 comes powered by a "Tadek Merek designed Aston Martin 4-liter Vantage twin-cam alloy engine" mated to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission.

Once completed, the DBR2 "received FIA papers in September 2000" and would later go on to participate in the 2001 Goodwood Revival, 2019 Monterey Historics and other vintage racing events.

The listing also states that this recreation is "titled as a 1958 Aston Martin for road use [and is] outfitted with a horn, speedometer, wet sump, runs on pump gas, and has comfortable seating and legroom with great driving ergonomics."

Find this 1958 Aston Martin DBR2 Recreation for sale over at Fantasy Junction for $379,500.

I saw one similar to this in Melbourne a couple of years ago. It was done to a very high standard but was running a Jaguar straight six which looked right at home. If memory serves me correct it was for sale for about a third of what the ask is on this one.

Also I got a lot of respect for some of the Aussie builds, they were commited.

I think anyone interested in purchsing this car needs to talk to Bob Egginton himself, he is readily available....a word of advice for potential buyers - merry Charistams and a safe one to all..
