Car Catcher: A Reutter Steel-Bodied Pre-A Porsche 356

Sponsored content presented by RM Sotheby’s.

The Porsche 356 had a long production run, stretching from 1948 until 1965. During this time, the German sports car went through four similar yet distinct versions: the so-called Pre-A, the A, the B and the C.

This 1951 Porsche 356 Coupe is a Pre-A example that currently displays 46,497 kilometers on its odometer.

The steel body of this particular 356 was assembled by Reutter, a coachwork company contracted to build the steel bodies for all 356s until Porsche acquired it in 1963.

Finished in red over a black interior, the car comes with a jack and tool kit.

Find this 1951 Porsche 356 Coupe by Reutter crossing the block at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Open Roads, Fall auction.
