Maybe it's the dreary weather outside, but we find ourselves gravitating toward this 1974 Triumph Spitfire 1500 that’s very similar to the one used in period ads exhorting buyers to "Go topless this summer.“ It’s not a ferocious performer, and that's okay—just drop the top and cruise. That's a pretty color. Bright yet not over the top.
This car, same year and color, was my 1st Spitfire. Bought it in 1982. I had to do some body work and a repaint but didn't get the color right, wife still reminds me every time we drive it or see another one like it. I'm not going o show this article to her.
