Sometimes a color strikes a chord inside of us that elicits a reaction—generally one of joy—and this 1959 Maserati 3500 GT wears such a shade of blue. Owing its stunning looks to a complete five-year-long overhaul, the 3500 GT with its equally gorgeous ivory interior is currently on offer from Bring a Trailer with a current bid of $207,000 with five days to go. Hagerty values a No. 2 3500 GT at $243,000, with a No. 1 commanding $270,000. Will this car break the $300k barrier? It certainly has the looks. 
I was tempted to buy one of these cars, but came to my senses in time. The hapless one that I came across had been modified by removing the roof (owner wanted a convertible, I guess) and had acquired a later V8 engine. Someone should have saved that car, but it turned out that I wasn't crazy enough to attempt it. Probably go broke trying and end up with a bastard that had little value.

Yeah, you probably made a good call on that. Once the roof's been removed and the original engine gone, there's no going back.
