Car Catcher: Turn-Key 1964 Corvette Race Car for Just $65,000?

Here’s a way to run some of the country’s top vintage races and, at the same time, look good. Bruce Trenery, owner of Fantasy Junction, is selling his personal vintage race car, a 1964 Chevy Corvette. It’s been a race car for decades, with Trenery running the car from Sonoma to Daytona.

Asking price is $65,000. Could this be duplicated for the same?

The Corvette has been converted to disc brakes, a legal mod thanks to the day’s SCCA General Competition Rules. Power currently comes from a 327-cubic-inch prepared by Tom Armstrong. “Although the engine still runs,” the seller says, “it tends to run hot and thus will need to be freshened prior to running in the 2020 season." Good foresight!

If you race a Corvette always use brightly coloured wheels so the track workers can easily locate you when you go upside down off the track in the tulies.  (That actually happened to a friend of mine in his 65, and they took awhile locating him as it was at a track in the Northwest where anything off track was basically wilderness).
