CLEARWATER, Florida (April 24, 2020) - Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) officials announced today new dates for a pair of popular HSR events at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta after both races had schedule changes in response to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

This autumn's HSR Atlanta Fall Historics at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta has been rescheduled for October 8 - 11, 2020. The new October date is two weeks later than the originally scheduled September 24 - 27 running of the Fall Historics.

Additionally, the 43rd running of the HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, which was set to take place this weekend on the 2.54-mile road course, has been moved to April 22 - 25, 2021.

"From the original postponement announcements to today's good news that both HSR races have new dates, we have been in constant contact with Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta President Geoff Lee and his team," said HSR President David Hinton. "Geoff and the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta staff have been perfect partners in these difficult times. I know they join all of us at HSR, including our valued competitors, in sending our deepest condolences to all of the families that have so recently lost loved ones. The COVID-19 crisis is unprecedented in our lifetimes but together we will all stay strong and persevere through the challenge."

The HSR Fall Historics move was made in support of a recent IMSA schedule change that moved Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta's Motul Petit Le Mans back one week to a later October date. All of these schedule changes have been a result of across-the-board cooperation by motorsports governing bodies around the world in response to the novel coronavirus and COVID-19.

One of HSR's blockbuster events, postponing the 43rd Mitty for a full year to the same weekend date next spring ensures the April tradition of the long-standing race will continue.

All purchased tickets for the 2020 HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will automatically be valid for admission to the 2021 running of the event. Ticket holders requesting refunds for their 2020 HSR Mitty tickets can send an email to

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta joins Sebring International Raceway as the only two classic American road courses that typically host a pair of HSR events each year.

The planned season-opening HSR Spring Fling at Sebring was scheduled to be run in late March. That event was cancelled due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, but HSR returns to the legendary Sebring circuit, December 3 - 6, for its traditional season-ending event weekend.

Next up on the 2020 HSR calendar is the Barber Historics at Barber Motorsports Park, May 15 - 17. Along with event partner HMSA, HSR is staying in close contact with track organizers and following information from the office of the Governor of Alabama on the state's reopening plans. Competitors will be provided updates as available.

I'm not sure why they didn't just move the Mitty back as well. I'm sure there is some weekend in the Fall that is available.
