More than 200 Triumph owners descended upon the northwest corner of Illinois for last week’s Vintage Triumph Register annual convention. The Illinois Sports Owners Association organized the convention and didn’t miss a beat.
The event started with a welcome party Monday night on an expansive deck overlooking the lake at the Eagle Ridge Resort, the event’s host.
Tuesday was reserved for tech sessions, a TSD rally and a poker run. The day ended with another ice cream run to a local ski resort overlooking the Mississippi River.
On Wednesday morning, the focus was on autocrossing, with the Madison Sports Car Club doing an excellent job of turning the marina’s small lot into an admirable course.
Thursday dawned bright and sunny yet again, and entrants moved their cars to downtown Galena, where a city park on the Galena River provided the perfect place for a judged concours combined with people’s choice voting.
The event wrapped up Thursday night with a banquet, trophy presentation and the week’s guest of honor, Classic Motorsports Publisher Tim Suddard, who explained how various Triumphs had changed the course of his life.
