Off to the body shop

With our rust repaired, it was time to head to the body shop. We have decided once again that we do not have the time, patience and expertise to strip, prime, block-sand and paint our Mercedes ourselves. Before it went, we took most of the trim off the car.

After a conference with The Body Werks owner, Tom Prescott, he asked that we reinstall the radiator and fuel tank so the car could be driven in and out of the shop. There is nothing a body shop hates more than a car that has to be pushed.

When he is ready, we will come to the shop and take the radiator and other engine ancillaries back off so the under the hood area can be painted body color.

We also decided to temporarily leave the doors and glass on the car. While our interior is not finished, there is no reason to further ruin our dash and make extra work trying to get all the dust and overspray out of the cockpit. When the rest of the car is in primer, we will take the doors and windows out.

Our metal work is essentially done and The Body Werks will take the next step and strip the car down for us.
