While not a big deal, the passenger’s sun visor was loose and would not stay in the up position. As our Ferrari 308 GT4 has a rather low roofline, driving around this way was annoying at best.
When we took the sun visor apart, we noticed that the plastic mount had a metal rod fixed permanently inside of it that held the actual visor. On our car, that 5mm metal rod was spinning in its plastic holder.
Seeing no way to cleanly and simply repair this, we went searching for new mounts. Again, Ferrari parts are expensive and largely unavailable. We went once again to Midwest-Bayless Italian Auto.
Turns out the Fiat mounts for the sun visors are exactly the same, but painted tan.
We ordered new ones for about $17 and painted them beige. When installing these sun visors, there is an odd nut/bolt combination that places pressure on the metal mounting rod to keep the sun visor from slipping down in the passenger’s face.
We needed to modify a screwdriver with a Dremel tool to be able to tighten these nuts. Once we did that, we had no more sun visor issues.
