Project VW Rabbit GTI: Fitting Some Period-Correct Coco Mats

After detailing our 1984 VW Rabbit GTI, we had one more thing to do: slip in some cocomats. We find that nothing finishes off a car from the ’50s through the ’80s better than a set of period-correct cocomats ordered from Cocomats.com.

These mats not only look right, but they hide dirt well, feel luxurious and help block sound and heat.

We chose the black/blue #55 traditional Cocomats and ordered both fronts and rears. These mats sell for $179.95 for a front set and $259.95 for the full set of four.

As always, the Cocomats.com mats fit perfectly and correctly finished off the car. They also stay in place nicely, which is a big safety issue. Yes, we are big fans of these mats and have them in a bunch of our project cars, even newer ones like our E46-chassis BMW M3.

And, if you want a set for yourself, Cocomats.com is giving away a set of their Sisal Mats to one lucky winner now until January 4, 2021. Click here for more information about the contest and how you can enter.
