Update by David S. Wallens to the Mazda Miata project car
Mar 25, 2022 | Mazda, Miata, Mazda Miata, Öhlins, Garage Rescue Miata, Good-Win Racing

Perhaps letting the Miata sit for eight-plus years was a little hard on some seals after all. We noticed that our dampers were leaking. That’s bad, right?

But new ones have arrived: Öhlins Road and Track DFV coil-overs from Good-Win Racing.

Why these? Lightweight, aluminum bodes plus the promise that they’d be comfortable on the road and track.

From Good-Win Racing:

This is a great choice for the dual purpose user who wants a setup that can be VERY comfortable around town yet super competent in the twisties, the race track, or the autocross course.

We also wanted something that would last for several seasons. As we've learned over the years, good dampers are an investment.

Installation was a breeze: Remove the old, install the new.

We need to dial in the valving with a proper track day, but some figures that we can share now:

  • Front ride height: 12 inches from wheel center to fender lip.
  • Rear ride height: 12.5 inches from wheel center to fender lip.
