What’s the best way to recover after the automotive festival that is the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge Presented by Tire Rack? More track time, of course!

We hosted a track day at the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park–our official test track–the day after the Challenge.

No, it wasn’t another competition: It was a laid-back event with plenty of track time, a small group of just 25 cars, and plenty of cool builds to compete against.

Which rad build did we bring? No, not the LFX-swapped Miata or the LS-swapped 350Z—we drove over in our do-it-all, daily-driven Mk7 Golf GTI. Our primary goal? Hang out, watch some awesome cars on track, and test out a new rear sway bar we’d installed for the Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports. Bonus points if we beat somebody.

And, well, success! We achieved a new personal best in the GTI—a lap of 1:21.67 in traffic—and enjoyed watching the $2000 Challenge builds on track. Thanks for joining us, everybody, and we’ll see you next year!
