1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Black on black Veloce. I wanted a hobby car/convertable, and at the time, MGB’s and especially TR6’s were too much for a buy in. I started looking on CL at Alfas, and was surprised at how much less the asking prices were. I found mine for $3000. It had a lot of miles, but someone in the past had towed it behind their moterhome. Rear bearings were shot LOL. The guy I bought it from wasn’t a mechanically inclined person, and was getting rid of it due to the front lights working erratically, wipers had stopped working, and the front right brake was dragging. 2nd gear sycro had seen better days…I had fun spending that first weekend sorting it out! I cleaned the fuse contacts, put in new fuses, cleaned up some grounds under the hood and that got the headlights, blinkers and wipers working on all speeds. I also put remanufactured calipers on all 4 corners, and new disks and brakes. Later upgrades include Koni Reds, IAP springs and a chassis stiffener. This now handles like a real sports car, not an old man’s cruising spider! Makes all the right sounds, too.
