2002 Ford Escort ZX2

This was my son’s first car. After he got a real job and a real car he sold this back to me for $500 with a blown transaxle, worn out tie rods, ball joints, clutch, and other stuff. I used it as a daily driver but gradually improved it, wanting to make it more agile for the commute and also invisible to other traffic. It now has a junkyard transaxle, new clutch, brakes, ball joints, and tie rod ends. New struts, sport springs, crash bolts in the struts so as to dial in -1 deg camber, and a Mazda Miata front sway bar modified to be the Fords rear sway bar, which eliminated a LOT of the understeer, and enables the car to lift an inside rear tire off the ground in high speed corners. Engine has a shorty header, free flow cat, and improved intake. Body has the rear spoiler removed, all Ford emblems removed, and the front bumper cover turn signal snot nostrils filled in with the magic of fiberglass. My son and I recently autocrossed it, and had a blast. Sure, we were almost the slowest time of day, but what do you want from all season Kumhos! So, why the heck is the car in street modified??? Because I took out the back seat to haul more groceries.-HA
