1973 Datsun 240z

The picture looks pretty good, but then I had this bright idea of creating my dream and painting her up as a BRE Tribute road car. I decided I should make sure she was ‘solid’ before proceding and tore it apart. It was worse than I had hoped. I’m not going to pretend I am any sort of DIY guy, so my Brother-in-law took on the project. It’s been over 5 years…but I think we finally turned a corner, last month. The goal is June 2011. Wish me luck!

Sadly, that was 'my ride' BEFORE I tore it apart. *sigh* It looked good....but it turned out the guy I bought it from several years before had cut alot of corners on the 'restoration'. Just about everything had to be redone. We've put in new floors, new rails, rear valance, etc. Then there's been the frustration of de-greasing the whole car. It was 'restored in the late '80's and grease seemed to be the rustproofing of choice. *YUCH* It's EVERYWHERE!!! What a mess!! Anyway, it's going to be VERY solid when it's finished!

You sound just like me! The guy I bought it from cut corners and just about everything will get redone. My brother-in-law took on the project and it has been at his house for nearly eight months! We just keep finding more to do. Luckily I ran out of money and now we just have to put it back together
