1980 Ford Fairmont

12

Underprepared CP car. The only Fairmont in all of Grassrootsdom, apparently. Front suspension is 90 Mustang K-member with stock ‘79 control arms, Global West bushings, double-adjustable QA-1 coil-over struts with 400 lb/in springs, Maximum caster-camber plates, and a 1 5/16” swaybar. Front 5-lug conversion is made from ‘93 5.0 Mustang spindles with MkVII brakes. Rear suspension is Global West LCAs, Evolution Motorsport Tri-link, Fays2 Watts, Maximum road race torque arm springs, KYB gas-a-just shocks, and a BellTech rear bar. Engine is a Boss block 347 with Scat crank and rods, Mahle pistons, Canton T pan, Fidanza aluminum flywheel, Streetdampr balancer, Anderson N51HR cam, Victor Jr. heads and intake, Harlan Sharp 1.6 roller rockers, March underdrive pulley, a Holley Terminator EFI, and Crane HI-6 ignition. Transmission is a Scobee Built G-Force case T-5 with a G-force helical dog gearset, hardened main shaft, and a 0.8:1 OD. Rear end is a Torsen T2-R with 3.55:1 gears. Rear five lug swap consists of Fox-length Ten Factory axles with Ranger drums. Exhaust is BBK long tubes into a Flowmaster merge collector into a 3” Dynomax Ultra Flow muffler, and out through a custom made tailpipe fabricated by welding together mandrel bends. The interior is a pair of old Corbeau Forzas. That’s it. No carpet, no back seat, no headliner, no dash pad. The tach, and Auto Meters for oil press and water temp are mounted on top of the dash, near the line of sight. Current best lap on the Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit is a 1:46.XX.
