18

History: 1967: My Uncle bought the car new in Iowa, the last GT sold in the state. Dark Green Fastback, 289 with a Top loader, manual steering, power kelsey hayes disk brakes, he added Koni shocks. 1975: I bought the car from him as my high school car. I started working the car like a Shelby. Raced it at OCIR and Carlsbad Raceway. 1976: I let a friend finally drive it, we got front ended by a Dodge less than 1/8 mile from my house. The car was totalled. I pulled the drive train and put it in a 72 Gran Torino Sport. I junked it to a frame shop as a test car for their new frame rig. 1977: 18 months later I got a call to come and pick it up, it was straight again! well almost. I towed the car to Texas where I finished rebuilding for drag racing again. 1978: Then moved to Hawaii where I started road racing in SCCA. I got 3rd place in the Modified Production class 79 championship. Lost out to a 427 Vette and a FIA 289 Cobra. 1980-1999: Came back to CA where I used the car for daily driving, Mustang car shows, some drag racing and autocross. 2000-2006: Then I discovered Open Track racing. Hot Damn! Went through the car and tweeked it for road course work. Have since driven Laguna Seca, California Speedway both Roval and Infield, Willow Springs, Streets of Willow, Button Willow, Infinion, and Thunder Hill. 2007: Vintage racing with VARA and HSR West. I continue to drive the car to shows and cruse nights.
