Lap COTA From the Bergsteiger’s Front Splitter | Video

https://www.youtube.com/embed/gOnJrZfZt1Y

This video just might have it all: a screaming V8, loud turbo whooshes and a view of the track that’s about as close as possible without getting road rash on your face.

The footage comes courtesy of BimmerWorld while exhibiting Bergsteiger, its 1000-plus-horsepower E36-chassis Pikes Peak racer, at the Optima Hi-Performance Expo at Circuit of the Americas.

Read more about this insane machine here, and look out for it at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hillclimb on June 27.

I like to put GoPros on the splitter, it's really fun to watch. My term for it is "squirrel cam".

Not COTA, not a kilohorse car, not a pro driver - but they're always fun to watch.

Targa Newfoundland stage. Doesn't look that fast but we were the fastest Open Class car.

High Plains Raceway with the little 5.3 but a better intake setup. This is mostly for the noise :) The camera is approximately a foot below the air filter with nothing in between.

In reply to DjGreggieP :

Blow-off noises like that always make me smile.

I need to buy or build a turbocharged car. I don't even want that much boost, I just want turbo noises.

Something's wrong with that video, I can't hear the constant screaming.

There aren't many sports where your feet are aerodynamic aids.
