Celebrating Legends With Moss Motors and the British Sports Car Hall of Fame

When world-famous automotive historian Graham Robson flies over from England for your event, you know it’s a big deal. And when the guest list also includes Road & Track columnist Peter Egan, Group 44 team boss Bob Tullius, and Michael Dale, OBE, the former president of Jaguar North America, then you know that it’s a really big deal.

The special occasion? The inaugural inductions for the British Sports Car Hall of Fame, which Robson emceed. Other luminaries on the dais included Michael Cook, who handled public relations for MG, Triumph and other British brands; MG guru and mechanic John Twist; and Dick Knudson, founder of the New England T-Register. Some inductees, like longtime racer Tony Adamowicz, are no longer with us. Some, like former Triumph team manager Kas Kastner, didn’t make the trip. The hall of fame, directed by longtime British car fan John Nikas, operates out of dedicated space at Moss Motors’s East Coast facility in Petersburg, Virginia. The day after the induction ceremony, Moss held their Motorfest, a gathering that celebrates both British cars and Miatas–while, at the same time, welcoming a few hundred owners and their machines. Cool cars of all types filled Moss’s property, while owners socialized, toured the facility, and collected autographs from the hall of fame inductees.
