Can’t find it? There’s a very good chance that Custom Spares has it. Since 1975, Stuart and Ann Arbeit have been amassing a treasure trove of parts for European cars–mostly NOS with some used and newly made components mixed in. Their inventory fills some 20,000 square feet and caters to nearly all classics, from Alfa Romeo sedans to the last Triumph sports cars.
They specialize in shock absorbers, and during our visit to their New York facility we saw rows of Koni, Boge and Armstrong dampers for virtually every sports car ever made. Need a head gasket for an English Ford? No problem, they have that, too. A tune-up kit for a Triumph TR3? It’s also on the shelf.
How did they collect all of this? They specialize in buying inventories from parts stores that are closing their doors. As a result, they have the genuine article, not a recent replica.
When Custom Spares can’t find something, they’ll make it. They put quality over price, too, meaning that their replacement water pumps have metal, not plastic, impellers.
What Custom Spares lacks in online presence they make up for in inventory and knowledge. Stumped all your usual sources? Custom Spares might just well have it.
