The NextGen Guide to Car Collecting | Book Review

Who can help guide you through the world of car collecting? How about McKeel Hagerty? His introduction to “The NextGen Guide to Car Collecting” contains a helpful reminder: “And the point of any pastime or hobby is simply whether it makes you feel good and brings you joy.”

How to find that joy? Robert C. Yeager fills in the rest of the book with sage advice on evaluating condition, identifying rising stars, finding allies and knowing when to both buy and sell. It centers around four tenets of collector car ownership: having the space, time, knowledge and funds to purchase and care for the vehicle.

The book also notes that we can learn from the actions–or inactions–of others. One story recalls a decision long ago to pass on buying five Ferrari 250 GTOs at $5000 to $9000 each.
