Car Catcher: The 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R Is the Fox’s Ultimate Form

If you wanted to go road racing in a Mustang back in 1993, Ford would gladly sell you this: The-one-year-only 1993 SVT Cobra R. The "R", naturally, stands for race. Nearly every aspect of the regular Fox-bodied Mustang was upgraded or stripped out to save on weight. The Cobra R was the fastest Mustang yet—capable of zero-to-60 in 5.7 seconds with a top speed near 140 mph. Ford's SVT division only produced 107 examples, and this is number #55. Hagerty values a No. 1 example at $95,000—how much do you think this 320-mile example will fetch? Find out when it crosses the block without reserve at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale show January 11-19.

Fun fact: The Cobra R wheels were taken from the upcoming SN95 Mustang, the optional 17x8" wheels to be exact, but black with polished lip and chrome center cap with more detailed Mustang logo. I'm tempted to paint mine to resemble that.
