Car Catcher: Wait, Are Plymouth Prowlers Collectible?

Built in the waning years of the Chrysler Corporation's '90s renaissance, the Plymouth Prowler spearheaded the subsequent retro craze that would go on to define a decade. Now, nearly 20 years after it first went on sale, they seem to be holding their own as bona fide collectibles. Hagerty values a No. 1 example at $45,700. This 1997 Plymouth Prowler is finished in one-year-only Prowler purple metallic and comes with only 295 miles. How much will it go for? Find out when it sells without reserve at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale show January 11-19.

I’ve always thought these were amazing fantasy-becomes-reality cars, probably driven by one strong personality.  So outrageous!  IF ONLY IT HAD A V8, it would have been perfect.   So frustrating to see this impossible production hot rod reach production at all, yet miss the quintessential heart of the genre from Day One:  the God Bless Amurrica V-f’ing-8.  Still, I’m SO pleased this car exists, and I must drive one someday.  Bravo to the car crazies that pushed it through at Chrysler!
