The 970cc S was a very special car. I had an also very rare 1071cc S. There were also the 997cc and 998cc regular Coopers. My brother had one of them (as well as a 1275cc S), but I can't remember which one he owned.
Coming soon to the Silverstone Classic Sale on July 29-30: a rare homologation special 1964 Mini Cooper 970 S.
What makes it so special? It was a homologation car built for racing in sub-1000cc classes. Fewer than 1000 Minis were built to this specification, making it one of the rarest models.
