I had no idea they raced here. I've been to PIB and Kelly's Island several times and had a great time. Adding things automotive would be awesome.
The Put-In-Bay Road Races step back in time and bring vintage motorsports to life. They proclaim their weekend to provide “more guaranteed fun than any other vintage racing event,” with car shows, tours, social events and, of course, the racing.
Best of all: They already have a record number of registrations for this year’s festivities. We’ll be there, too. Their latest news about the event is listed below:
“Today, organizers of the 9th annual Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion announced American Modern Insurance Group as presenting sponsor for the 2017 races. The event, which takes place August 27-30 on Ohio’s South Bass Island, has already far exceeded all past records for entries.
“American Modern is a leading specialty insurance provider for owners of collector cars, motorcycles, and boats in addition to residential insurance for rental property, vacation homes, standard dwellings, vacant property or mobile homes.
“We are proud to announce our expanded relationship with American Modern,” said event co-founder and race director Jack Woehrle. “Their support will strengthen the Put-in-Bay Sports Car Races –and American Modern understands the motivations of the entrants and is enthused to build relationships with our crowd.”
“And that ‘crowd’ is growing, Woehrle says. “This year’s entries are running at least 20 percent ahead of the high-water mark for all previous years. We could easily end up with 100 racing entries this year and 50 non-racing participants. We are prepared for them with more on-track time on an expanded racing circuit and almost twice the amount of paddock space as in previous years,” noted Woehrle.”
