Fashion designer Ralph Lauren might know a thing or two about beauty. That’s exemplified by his ownership of this 1933 Bugatti Type 55 Roadster. But this car’s history includes far more than that.
The Bugatti started its life exhibiting at the 1933 Salon de l’Automobile, a trade fair in Algiers. It then went from a show darling to a winning race car, emerging victorious at the 1935 Bouzaréa Hill Climb.
Despite passing through the hands of several notable owners through the years, this Type 55 retains its original coachwork and matching-numbers drivetrain, per factory records.
Find this 1933 Bugatti Type 55 Roadster up for auction at Gooding & Company, with an estimated winning bid of $8,000,000-$10,000,000.
