bring the ban hammer!!

A Maser V-6. Suspension that keeps the car level no matter what but that allow you to drive over Prii at speed and not even know it. Sexy french body. Unique. Oh, there are soo many reasons to want a DS or SM.

Cool cars.....but I can only imagine what a nightmare it would be to restore one.

I'd imagine in the end, this would cost much, much more to restore than it would cost to buy a decent one.

The only thing that could possibly top that level of awesomeness would have been if they'd done that to a DS wagon.

A better Citron:

Melon Cosmo Martini

¾ part Hiram Walker® Melon Liqueur, 2 parts ABSOLUT® Citron Vodka, Splash White Cranberry Juice,

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake, strain and serve in a martini glass.

Very cool car.....BUT

I worked on one of these ( a lot) back in the late 70's. What made them cool was hydraulic systems like the self leveling ride. But when the various seals and hoses started leaking (and mind you, the car was only 5-6 years old at the time), it was a nightmare to troubleshoot the hydraulic failures. Plan on replacing EVERY seal and hose in the numerous hydraulic systems if you delve into this puppy. The motor was pretty cool, though.

I want one of those too, not that one though. Its obviously badly rusted, the windshield is cracked (where are you going to find one? Maybe in england?), and the engine likely needs to be partially if not completely rebuild. At least it would need the valves and timing chains replaced. Other than the hydraulics I dont think they are that much worse than any other old car, just really expensive to fix after sitting too long. I have seen ones that ran for close enough to that price that at least sorta ran and drove that Id look for something better.

Ask M4ff3w about his Biturbo and if he thinks his troubles would be improved through the addition of a complex hydropneumatic system that controlled everything on the car.

A friend had a DS in college, so let me see if I can say this nicely...my TR4 at the time was a lot more reliable.

Actually it was a seriously fun car, but it was a hydrolic nightmare. When I was throwing on another weekly head gasket, which usually took less time, he was replacing piping, pumps and assorted other pieces trying to keep it off the ground and performing simple tasks, like stopping.

Now if you think how simple that car is compared to the SM...well...you'd have to really want one, or find a good one and keep it that way.

Given my affinity for strange Italian cars though, I still like them, even if they are mostly French!
