From what I have heard the SM hydraulics are actually easier to deal with just because most of the parts are easy to get to. I think the worst of the problems with them are the engine, the lower timing chain, sodium filled valves and something (not sure exactly of the details) related to the oil pump gears all need attention. Id say its more comparable to an Alfa of around the same year than a biturbo as far as how its built. The one I drove was fun, the shifter linkage had partly come apart or something so it would go in first or second gear and the steering rack leaked so the brakes didnt seem to have quite enough pressure to work right. I still liked it a lot though. The SM and the Lamborghini Urracco are probably my favorite older supercars.
