Yeah, thanks...I might need it...
THE CAR IS STILL AVAILABLE-A COUPLE OF YOU HAVE SHOWN SOME INTEREST, JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU WANT TO COME SEE IT! IT MAY GO ON eBAY SOON, SO LET ME KNOW ASAP!
I hate that it's seized. Have you tried Kroil on the rings? Kroil is the only thing I have seen that will creep out of its out can.
In reply to crankwalk:
I haven't tried Kroil-I don't even know what that is. Where do I get it? I haven't tried to turn it in a few weeks (I had hernia surgery), but I put trans fluid and rust penetrant in the cylinders a number of weeks ago. Once I'm able to I'll put the breaker bar on there again and see what happens.
Holy Jebus how is this still available? Google says you're 500mi from Knoxville... I've never had a car shipped before. Any idea how much that's likely to cost?
In reply to saruken:
I have NO idea how much shipping would be. I don't love the idea, but if you put all of it together I would be happy to be here when they pick it up. Zip code is 23462.
In reply to saruken:
Oh, and the last Z I sold had no title, rusty floors, and the engine apart, and I had a guy drive up from Nashville to get it. Come on up!
The more I think about this, the more I think I'm going to try to un-seize it...maybe I'll keep it after all if I can get it running! We'll see...still let me know if you're interested.
I've been soaking this thing in Deep Creep everyday since last Thursday, and a buddy is coming over on Wednesday to see if we can turn it at all. I might add some trans fluid tomorrow too...here's hoping!
Got the motor to turn today! It took a little fighting, but now it turns smooth as butter. I need to go to Advance and get a new starter w/ my warranty (stupid aftermarket junk), and get some spark plugs, but then we'll see if she fires up! It looks like I might be keeping this after all...
Good job buddy. I have never seen a completely seized L series, they are just tough motors.
It looks like a real nice car and I'd hang on to it personally.
Now that its unstuck, I'd still put some more penetrant in the cylinders until you can turn it over regularly and have your sites on it running.
In reply to crankwalk:
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna keep it. I can turn it now with just a regular sized 3/4 ratchet, and it is smooth. A couple spark plugs are broken so I'll probably pick up a set and get a good starter and just see how it cranks. I LOVE these L motors...the old timers I worked with at the Nissan dealer always said they are some of the toughest motors Nissan has ever made. I agree! Hopefully I can spend a little time with it on Saturday morning and at least see if it will start up and run for a few minutes. Then the real work starts...heater core, window regulator, door latch, brakes, tires, and anything else needed after being off the road since 1990. I'll start a build thread if all goes well with starting it!
Mines been off the road since 89. All the parts are available still and not too expensive. Take your time and bring it back.

My thoughts exactly!

The current plan is to make it run well and make it street worthy (aka pass State Inspection), then I'll repair/modify/restore as I go along. I only drive 2 miles to work, so it should be fine for that short commute--especially if I replace the heater core and get the old AC working!
I got my new starter this morning, and the beast cranks! Needless to say, THIS CAR IS NO LONGER FOR SALE! Thanks to you guys for pushing me to try to un-seize the engine...it worked! Hopefully I'll have this thing on the road soon and maybe down to the Challenge someday!
