The timing belt slipped and at the moment I'm pulling 70-880 hours weeks with school and work. I have no time not the extra $ to send it to a shop to have the timing reset. The 1.8 is a non interference engine!!! Lots of recent work! Here is the listing on the vw vortex: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeromodify?cmd=editpost&id=51365637

The usual reason why the timing belt slips on a G60 is that the crank keyway is stripped. That means a new crank is needed...

Possibly, but the crank pulley has a tooth that can shear off.

Ask me how I know.

In my case the keyway was fine, just needed a new pulley.

Definitely something to check though.

The keyway on my old G60 stripped. Found out at the track in Canada (Quebec) where no one spoke English. That bit.

If someone needs a PG crank (Corrado motor) give me a shout. The timing belt is easy as pie on that motor if you can find the TDC mark through the damn peep hole in the bell housing.

Glad to hear you're keeping it after everything you've been through with it. Love that color.

That's why you mark the spot on the flywheel with paint.
