As you probably know by now, we couldn't have our traditional $2000 Challenge awards banquet this year, and as a result we weren't able to show a slideshow of our best photos from the weekend.
Instead, we've posted the best shots from this past weekend online. Check out the gallery at https://2000challenge.com/
Excellent photos, as always. Thank you for sharing.
But what is the story behind the exterior treatment on this BMW? Those look like rocks glued to the body. Or do I need to wait for the magazine article? Regardless, it looks cool in pictures.
And inflating a tire by hand. Nice.
Travis I was two spots over with an electric pump.

Yup, those are rocks. I didn't ask what the specific theme was, but I talked to the team and they were a nice group of folks.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
I found one later thankfully.
Was worth it, I tree'd you later
Great photos. Almost makes up for not being there. Almost.

I like how all the cars have body roll, then there is Roll-Ovalon and the other death karts.
I think I need to add lightness to myself in preparation for the next challenge.
Yeah, I want to make the car lighter but I should really work on my belly, too...
In reply to Mr_Asa :
Can't have body roll if you have no body to roll

I did a Patrick start. I found I waited longer the slower the car I was against.

This is a gross misrepresentation of reality.
The link for pictures isn't working for me. Not on safari or chrome.

Not on that run. iirc Robbie either lost or JUST beat us. After that, we couldn't get traction and then smoked the clutch on the 3rd pass. Our "safe" pass had a 2.6 second 60' and a 14.37 second 1/4 mile with a speed of 108mph. Wait until next year when we bring all the traction!
In reply to hobiercr (FS) :
Yeah it was both of our first runs I think. We talked about both doing a safe run and then lining up for a heads up run, but we happened to line up early. So I was messing around with a soft launch to make sure I didn't ruin the axle on the line.
We never got back to the line together to do the heads up race. Next year!

Thanks! Don't know about settings and all. Just using my iPhone 11. Like a real rich kid.

They are rocks. I worked a corner with one of the team members. They were going for an art car aesthetic. The team was from a college in the Upper Peninsula. Sounded like a long drive to get here.
