Hi all - I'm the "guy from NY" that bought the Camaro. I need another project like I need another hole in the head, but couldn't pass it up. I've been out of racing for awhile since I sold my RX-7 Turbo, so am looking forward to getting this to make noise again. I've always thought of myself as a FoMoCo guy and have never owned a Chevy (much less a Cramit/Camero), so this should be interesting. :) The tentative goal is HPDE to start, with maybe some NASA/SCCA/AER club racing, and if I'm feeling ambitious, NEHA hillclimbs.
I'm trying to scare up a trailer quick (sold my old one with the RX-7) to pick the car up next Saturday; failing that, I'll rent one from U-Haul to move it back to Rochester. I'll do my best to start an adventure and/or build thread with more updates, but this will be my first attempt at both.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I'll definitely setup a build thread when I can get it back home and assess condition. I'd love to be able to bring it back to running condition within Challenge budget, but that might be being a bit optimistic.

Well, despite pining for the adventure of a good road trip, logic has prevailed over emotion. To retrieve "Geraldine" (the PO's name for the car), it was going to be 18+ hours round trip (assuming all went perfectly), plus at least $300 for fuel and a rental trailer. Of course, if anything went south, my buddy and I would be MIA for Mother's Day, which would probably cost more kitchen points than I have left after this purchase. For $350, a U-Ship driver is going to pick the Bitchin' Cramero up in Ohio today and deposit it at my shop tomorrow. This may be an adventure in itself - I've never used U-Ship previously, and he has a 16' enclosed trailer to haul what Wikipedia tells me is exactly a 16' (192") long car. Since we know the InterWebz is always right, what could possibly go wrong? 
Assuming she arrives safe and sound, I'll start a build thread in the appropriate section. Updates may come slower than desired (this is the "busy season" at work), but quite frankly, I'm hoping posting here will help hold me accountable to work on it!

I've had two cars shipped via Uship this year. Both excellent experiences. In your case it seems you're spending 80 cents per mile. That means if you were doing the trip back and forth you'd have to travel for 40 cents per mile. The Fed govt says it costs 55 cents to move an average car; more for truck/trailer.
Having it brought right to your front door is the smart money.
Heck, you can't ride in a cab for only 80 cents per mile.

Hi guys - sorry for the extended delay (darn work getting in the way), but Geraldine is home! At first cursory glance, the car is as described - complete, dusty, and pretty much in need of one of everything to be competition-ready. The welded (formerly bolt-in) rollcage may or may not be able to be grandfathered in for SCCA/NASA road racing, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. If nothing else, it will make a helluva fun trackday weapon and there are enough events it will be able to run in that I'm still stoked.
Once I have 5 minutes to breathe again, I'll get a build thread posted. Updates may come slower than desired for any of us, but with it showing up as "Reader's Ride of the Week", I better get crackin'!
