As many of you know I raced Big Block Chevys for years. I sold everything out about 22 years ago.
Over the past 7 years I have been buying up parts. We got a 502 for $700, a 427 for $300, a 468 with forged pistons for $400.
As it turns out guys who I have not seen me for some time still ask about the BBC stuff and are often shocked when they hear about our small blocks and LS adventures.
Fast forward to today, a guy is clearing out his Dad's barn and has a 454 to get rid of. He tries to sell local - no interest, the info circulated around a couple warehouses - not an LS... no interest, then a fork lift repair business - not an LS no interest and ultimately to me.
" Would you be interested in a 454 with parts for $100?"
"Yes, I've been grabbing cheap stuff. What are the details?"
"It's a 84 truck engine with Pistons and a cam."
31 miles and $100 later...
So the question(s) of the day are. "What car?" And "How much spray?"
VW Rabbit.
Engine in the back using a TH425.
All the spray.

Triumph spitfire. Andy Newman has one close by he will sell you cheap.
Think triumph cobra...
The answer is obviously 'XJS' and "all the spray"...
1st generation Chevy II, or a Vega, or extended cab S10 square body.
...or a beige Camry. No one would suspect it.
Suzuki Samurai or Sidekick.
Might have to stretch the nose a little. Or maybe not.

I think it would look really nice in my RX7. Better than a van engine.

I was in a middle lane on I-95 one day and a beige Camry came up behind me. In my mirrors I saw it pull out into the left lane. Then it shot up the highway like it was fired out of a cannon with the wail of a modern Corvette. No idea what was in it and with dark tints couldn't tell if it was caged. I don't think I've ever seen a car pull away that quickly from a 70 MPH roll. Was rear wheel drive with wide tires stuffed inside the wheel wells. No stickers, crazy camber, or any other outward signs of what lurked under the appliance skin. I was shocked!

What about a Modified set up for street use? This thing is practically begging for a Rat motor. There have to be used chassis in your neck of the woods.

In reply to NOT A TA :
That wasn't a Camry, that was a Chevy SS.

I approve of this.
No. Gotta show the engine and massive valve covers and big headers. It's a $100 BBC. The naysayers need a reason to have a meltdown.
