After much discussion with the track, we're officially allowing camping at this year's $2000 Challenge.
I don't have exact details yet, but expect it to cost around $50, and expect it to be part of registration when that opens up next week. We'll need to sell a minimum number of camping passes in order to offset the cost of additional security, too.
I'm looking forward to trackside camping with everybody!
How much working on cars would allowed at the track?
And also when would the track open to campers?
$2000 Challenge.
Camping.
What could possibly go wrong?
Too bad the border's still going to be closed. I'd like to be able to say I was there the one year camping was allowed
On the one hand "woohoo!", but on the other missing out on the hotel parking lot shenanigans.

Something tells me they'll just shift to the track, especially given how sassy the staff at the best western has been lately.
this just means we can start drinking earlier, and stay up drinking later. Win.

You act like there won't be better "Track lot Shenanigans".
In reply to nocones :
Oh definitely, but if most people still stay at the hotel it might be pretty quiet out there.
Then again, we could have a pretty epic jam session out there if we get enough musician/campers.
Tom - that brings up a question though: for $50 will the track leave the power on for campers, or will we be on generators only?

Does "camper" also mean RV?

With how little power is available at the track, I would plan on generators only.

Still nailing those details down. And I'm struggling to understand the line between working and camping. Maybe that's something I won't need to define because there won't be any problems.

I've sent a text...
New subclass proposal (don't worry Tom, I'm kidding), but you slept in it the past two nights class. Sponsored by Gainesville Chiropractic Associates.
I just thought about the funk from the campers come Concours time.

Wet tee shirt contest? Penalty points only for those the judges feel the need to hose.

Reading through this just makes me glad my camper has a working lock.
If I make it as planned, I'm going to hotel it up. I love camping but not combined with other things.
When I was part of the traveling road show with a certain sanctioning body, I was always put up in luxurious bougie accommodations. However, I was jealous of those who camped at the track because there was definitely late night restrictor removed golf cart races going on down there...

Sassy? They made me Guest Du'Jour AND elected me Jury Foreman. I love the Beast Western staff.

Does "camper" also mean (Converted busses)?

Tentatively, you'll be able to move in at 5pm on Friday, and move out at 5pm on Sunday.
This is a good thing. Congrats'

Can we have an additional Concours class for Harbor Freight based homemade campers?
Let's see who can build the coolest one and actually make it all the way to Gainesville.
