I'm sure you could convince the DMV that it's a customized Chevette pretty easily; swap VIN tags and call it an El Caminette.
I like it because it would have the quality of an oem job over a hack. Then again this was a cheap chevy from the 80s.

Find a British supplier of parts for a Chevette 2300 HSR and build a rally pickup with a couple of hundred horsepower. You could even fit the HSR's box flares (but that's for the other thread !)

there was a kit car back in the day of a chevette pickup. that was awesome and I really wanted one. kind of still do...
Why does everyone want to swap an LS engine into cars it would make totally useless? lol If I got that it would get an isuzu turbo engine most likely, which would probably fit without cutting/welding anything. IMO, if you have to actually modify the shell of the car, in most cases you either have the wrong car or the wrong engine. Not always though.
