Check the front transverse cross member for rust. If it has rust, it is not only not rust free, but also unusable. These cross members are rare as hen's teeth. I had to have one custom made from the rusted remnants of my old one.

I had a gutted '79 1200 autocross car. I'm pretty sure that I had to trim the crossmember on mine to make clearance for the A-T Engineering header.
