So, a competitor who shall remain nameless until he outs himself has asked me to reach him how to bring his E36 M3box back to life via detailing.

Apparently im ok at it according to y'all, so im happy to teach him.

Im also happy to do it as a Friday parking lot seminar for anyone who is interested in learning how I do it. Definitely not the only way to do it, maybe not even the right way, but my way. Primarily greased for challenge purposes, but applies to us all who buy at the bottom of the depreciation curve and bring them back to life.

Anyone interested?

I'll never tell. Unless tortured, bribed, sweet talked, or asked really nicely.

I am absolutely positive that while this is going on, there will be a crowd.  Many notes will be taken.  The world will henceforth have beautifully clean and protected cars.  The automotive messiah will erupt forth from the bowels of the earth and eradicate all Suvs (except the cool ones).

Mary and I will be driving the Corolla down so I'm going to be limited on space. Can one or more of y'all bring some pop-up shade tents? Most all of what we're going to be doing does not end well doing it in direct sunlight.

Also is there a spigot at The Host Hotel for water access that we could hook a garden hose up to? What about power outlet?

Seems like a good chance for a newer electrified ford truck to show off!

I can only assume you are referencing the immediate preceding post to yours, and not merely affirming the desire for the detailing instruction.

For sure. If we could only identify an automotive messiah, most of this would be tax deductible as well.

Detailing is one of those things that I wish I could do, but can't. It's not a lack of desire for a great finish or access to the tools and knowledge to learn; it's the patience I lack. I watch some of the YouTube people and am amazed that they wash the car 6 times before starting the process of 14 more steps followed by 8 more steps, while using 8 different types of rags and cleaning their buckets in between each step. Its the same with painting; 5 prep steps, 8 progressive grades of sanding, 5 polishing steps, and 3 sealing steps. I get why good detailers and painters cost $$$, I could never stick to all of that. And this is why my stuff looks like poo.

I ain't going to lie I don't do all that E36 M3 man. I do enough to get acceptable results for me. And I'm trying to balance the effort and outcome for those reasons every car I do I get a little better and learn a little more about that balance both in paint and body work as well as detail

I can't promise anything at the host hotel... but what about doing it at the track? We've got room in the schedule and I'd be happy to offer time, space, power and a microphone if you're interested.

Here's the current schedule:

What about first thing Sunday morning?

Tom: that is a fantastic offer. I'll take you up on that. The Shady spot with power will be awesome for what I can teach Sunday morning. And I can do it geared towards the Concourse of the challenge if you'd like.

I sent Tom an email that I don't know if he ever got with a suggestion for title and request for a time slot. I don't know if E36 M3 boxes and Shinola is appropriate but it is appropriate for what we do. I'm trying to do handouts but I'm struggling with it so it may just be off the cuff which is the way I tend to do everything and it generally turns out pretty okay.
