Hmm, not really sure. I’ve driven it 100-200 in a day a few times but that’s about it. For long trips the car kinda gets to me. My comfort standards are pretty low but the suspension, poly diff bushings, slight 5th gear whine, pucked clutch in traffic, and lack of radio get to me after a while. It does get about 25-26 mpg and I don’t see any reason why it would not make the trip but this is a challenge car. I guess it all depends on how brave you are.
Unbelievable deal! Good luck with it.

do you have more pictures of the intercooler setup other than the ones in miataturbo? is that MS capable of running a/c? Have you had any cooling issues?
Thanks
As someone else that has helped work on this challenge car as well as driven it on few occasions this is a great deal for a deceptively fast car. I truly believe this thing would take out my MS3 even on the highway!

I only have full pictures from the original mock up. Only time I has run warm was last year at the chellenge when it was about 98 degrees and I had only one coolant fan wired up at the time. It got hot but never over heated. I don't know if MS will work with A/C. Since I removed the system with a sawsall I never bothered to look into it.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?????!!!!!!
wow, this thing is a steal! I wish I hadn't just bought another miata :(

Ha, well if you are interest I could drive the car by sometime since you are not too far away.
Also I have a bunch of extra parts I’m going to be selling too once I sort everything out and clean the garage. 1.8L short block, 2 intakes w/ throttle bodies, 2 heads (one rebuilt), 15x7 rims with drag slicks and RA1’s, 15x7.5 CM1’s with 225/40/15 RS2’s (my DD set), rear aftermarket sway bar, racing beat springs (nice DD springs for Boston roads), and lots of other random stuff I can’t remember right now.
How much for one of the heads?
If this thing isn't sold yet I am shocked, and saddened. Means no market for mine when we finally decide to quit challenging it.
A lot of stuff like this is convenience and cash. In my case, I generally don't consider cars that aren't within a couple hours drive.
I still have the car. There were some local people who messaged me but no one has come by to take a look. I would really prefer to sell it to someone local or at least someone with a trailer. The though of someone picking up and driving a challenge car 1,000 miles worries me. I was hoping there would be more interest too since it’s a turbo Miata with a hard top for $2010. If it does not sell by this weekend I’m slapping on my 60 trim T3 and heading to New England Dragway to see if I can pick on my friends new 2011 Mustang GT.
As for the head I’d like to sell all the 1.8L parts together since there are enough parts to make one good 1.8L.

Cool, I use to live in Weymouth at The Ledges and my gf's family lives in Quincy so I was down that way all the time.
I am still interested Greg, but have not had a chance to get up there to see it again. It was a busy weekend, and I was/am sick with a cold that is affecting the old Asthma. I will get up to see it this week for sure.

Did you get rid of this thing yet? I do not even like miatas and yet I confess to thinking about this one...
This is a great deal for a beautiful, turn-key instant challenge contender.
I still have the thing. I actually fired it up this weekend and drove it around but the turbo really needs to be rebuilt. Neighbors were not pleased with the blue smoke coming from the race car looking thing driving around. I think since it’s staring to get cold out I’m just going to store it for the winter plus I’ve also been thinking about keeping it again. I’m not sure why but the thought of bring it back for 2011 has entered my mind. Run some used OEM shocks to free up $218 in budget and rebuild the 1.8L with a nice set of used H-beam rods I kinda bought last week because they were cheap. Blah I don’t know. I have a love/hate relationship with this car.
Greg,
Why do you have to be so close!!!! I will have to discuss this with my wife and it goes agains my "not have to many projects" rule. Did chris bug out or is he sitll sick? For my sake I hope you desite to keep it.
I sent Chris a few PM's but never heard back. It’s possible he is still sick. Even if you don’t buy it feel free to come by and check it out sometime now that’s its back together.
I am still around, and interested, but have been super busy with kid things, and helping my BIL wire his new garage-mahal. I hope to come see the car this week if you are around Greg.
Chris
This week is a little crazy. Here is when I plan on being aruond.
Tomorrow before 10am
Thru and Fri morning till 11am
Late Sunday afternoon after an autocross with the Jeep
Saturday still unsure. Might go to NED with the Miata and a 50 trim t3/t4 off the Jeep. If not I'll be around all day.
Pseudo - are you developing any desire to ship the DD wheels?
