So, we are replacing the m20b27 in the e28 with an m20 b25 short block we picked up. I want to keep the 2.7 crank, rods and pistons as its a low compression 'stroker kit' for the m20's, but I also want to put in some recoup in the budget since we wont be using it in the challenge. This fleabay ad is the only thing I've been able to find. I think that's quite high, nut maybe $200 for crank, rods, and pistons?
Isn't this generally done by keeping the m20b27 short block and swapping the m20b25 head up on to it? I'm not seeing the m20b25 head in your deal. Sorry just confused on what you want to end up with. Are you looking for the value on the m20b25 crank, rods, and pistons? Because the m20b27 stuff came with the car right so it's free. Yeah I'm confused and I swear I've only had one sip of whiskey.

Yeah sorry if that sounded confusing. Looking for value on 2.7 ETA rotating assembly.
The car came with an 885 b25 head in the trunk, and we bought a b25 short block. So were gonna run that combo NA at competition. Boost would be down the line when budget isnt a restriction.

Personally unless that m20b27 block has a problem I don't understand why you're doing it this way. Seems like you should just put the m20b25 head on the block already in the car and have better performance for the Challenge plus easier to do than swap everything around. Ok but that's not your question. You want a value on the m20b27 rotating parts. I bought a m20b25 long block plus trans for $100 but that was an amazing deal. Could I see an m20b27 crank/rods/pistons worth $200? Yes if already striped down and in good condition. It's a case of the parts being worth more than the whole. You have my vote even if I would do it totally different. I mean you got handed a Super Eta with the purchase of the car.

Its all very confusing. Upon removal of the head, we found a cracked block around the head bolt. This is on the b27.
On top of that, putting the 885 head on a NON super eta block (super eta had higher comp pistons) yields a compression ratio in the neighborhood of 8:1. Great for boost, but i think the b25 engine will end up making more power NA because it is somewhere north of 10:1 compression.
M20B27 rotating assembly w/out a head are usually free-ish in my opinion. I've seen plenty of "pay me $100 to get this lump out of my garage" posts from people who swapped out their wroking M20B27 with an M50/M5x. Full on running engines seem to usually be posted for a few hundred (at most). There are always a few dreamers who ask stupid $$$...so ignore those if you see them. Diesel cranks are made from unobtainium (or expensive). I've even seen M20B25s for really cheap from time to time...cheap enough that I nearly bought one just to keep onhand for future plans.

LOL that does not bode well for any recoup
