I know there's an Alfisti or two in here.

Ever since I saw Clarkson have one on Top Gear I've been searching. If only it was closer than 1000+ miles away
Driving wise, the Milano is a much better car than the 164. The 164 is drives like a FWD car, since it is. Sounds nice, has a lot of torque, but I never really like the one we had (it was a later 164 LS with the 4V engine, but had a similar car as a loaner for a weekend).
The Milano does drive like a big GTV6. Which is to say really nicely.
The Milano posted is a GREAT deal. I had one that was in worse condition that I got for $1500 over a decade ago. It was driveable, but it doesn't look like that one.
They are interesting to work on, but given how great they can be on the track, that's a great car to have. BTW, IIRC, a Milano has one a LeMons race before.
If you like Alfas, get it. After sorting it out, you'll love it.
What should you look for and what typically needs sorting and what would you worry about on this Milano?
My heart aches, I want a Milano so bad!
I've seen better examples for that money, but still, that's not a bad deal

Rust, shift and clutch systems, and timing belt.
If the belt breaks, it's a PITA to rebuild, as you have to change all of the broken valve guides. For a long time, there has been a good replacement to the hydraulic tensioner. On the other hand, the engines are very robust and very rebuildable. This was the same engine Calloway did his first turbo on (for the GTV6).
The shift/clutch system is more unique to the trans axle. The clutch is in the back... With the axle out, and wanting Giubo replacements, might as well do the clutch, too. And then make sure the shift mechanism is up to snuff.
Everything else would be like any other late 80's car.
Seller says some rust bubbles on rear wheel wells and the passenger jack point in shot. I may wind up calling this guy.
Spoke with the owner. Additional details: fuel pump hot wired, no head unit, 1 jacking point rusted out, trunk cable broken, turn signal stalk broken off and has had rust repair in the rear before that is beginning to fail. So, what's the consensus now? Sounds like a really honest kid (and by that, I'm guessing early 20s). I'm 50 so that's kid range to me.
Sounds more of a project than it looks. If it were a clean runner- not jumped or anything, well- I'd consider an offer. But that would make me concerned- as it suggests other things that could be juryrigged.
He said it failed when they installed the lights. So they undid the light wiring, no change. So they bypassed the relay.
Are centerline and vick the only sources. I'm shocked at some of the prices. Looks like that alfa needs north of 1k in parts.
I'm not sure about the value- check alfabb.com for more comprehensive advice than mine- or go to Hungary Bill's GTV6 project and ask there- his car is much closer to the Milano than my GTV's.
But for work- it would be the timing belt first, so that when you repair the wiring harness and electronics, you have a solid engine to work with. The rust can wait.
Still, if you are honestly interested in this car, the alfabb.com is the place to go. They are a great group, and are incredibly helpful. As a matter of fact, they may be able to find you an alternative that is more to your liking, too.
Brett, just because I'm seriously thinking about it doesn't mean I'll get it. A minor project is one thing. I'm moving so Im stupid just looking.
Former boss had one @ 3.1 liters, fully tracked out. Drove it in COMSCC events in the 90s. Wicked fast and handled great. I called it the big ugly Italian Jetta.
