As complete as that kalamazoo example is, and even with the 20xx challenge pricetag, I'd personally be loathe to start selling off parts to make budget room for better rubber, brakes, suspension etc. I would want to spice it up a little with wheels and such for light duty/occasional commuter stuff, but Id pretty much leave it alone...if it were mine that is.

Good to know. Two F2T cars have crossed my path recently (one was actually a Probe GT and the other was a thankfully too far away 626 GT in the Northwest) that were $800 each. I am assuming that they have similar build quality to the late 80's/early 90's Nissans. If I didn't have too many projects, I would have probably picked up the Probe GT.
There's also a 1989 MX6 GT in a junkyard in my town that has been there for at least 10 years and is remarkably intact. I would be willing to bet that it's going to be there for another 10 years, so I know where I could get a few parts. 
Probe isn't as good. Interior build quality is utter E36 M3.
You guys know you can call Mazda USA with a VIN and they'll tel you what the build sheet said, as well as all dealer options. I did it with an R-pack Miata I missed out on about 2 years ago. 5 minute phone call.
