Hey all, is the usual dinner happening Saturday evening between end of autocross and beginning of drags? I ask because I can't find any info on it, and can't remember if was available when I registered back in November. And now my family has decided to come up Saturday to experience the day with me, so I was interested in getting them in on it as well. So, what's the deal?
(Aside: Tom, I sent you a message through MotorsportsReg about this, but I figure you're probably pretty busy with planning and prep. But do let me know if/when you can. Thanks.)
I think the general discussion ended with the dinner was a lot of extra expense and some were underwhelmed with the food per dollar.
I did not see it on the registration either, so I think it was dropped completely. Bring food or plan to have someone bring food to you is the short answer. The track food shop is another option. There was talk of food trucks, but I did not see that anywhere either.

We aren't doing dinner this year--sorry about that. After not selling many tickets in 2022, we polled the group during the Challenge town hall last year, and they made it clear that it wasn't worth the price charged (and we were selling tickets at cost).
The concession stand should be open, though!

Food trucks would be great, but our contract with the track prevents them.
Dang, somehow I missed that announcement. I was kinda looking forward to BBQ under the pavilion. It's pricey yeah but so are concessions, and running out for food takes away precious repair time/brain power when cheap broken cars need work between autocross and drag.
What are folks doing instead? I'd like to plan ahead
Send someone on a sandwich run to Hogan's

Thanks for the reply. We'll just make plans to either grill in the paddock or make a dinner run.

I think anyone that thought $35 for hot bbq dinner and ice cold drinks delivered to and served within spitting distance of working on your car in the pits was very short sighted. The time savings of not having to run out or logistics of bringing stuff and tools to cook, or spend half the drags on the toilet from eating track food, is worth more than $35 to me.
I'm also a fan of breaking bread with friends old and new so it will be missed by me

This is the answer. Dennis the Menace (aka my Father) has now been volunteered, he just doesn't know it yet. He will make a list, he will take your money, he will bring you a sandwich.
In reply to tb :
If a Hogan's run is in the works, lets see if we can get a menu and set a order deadline. I'm all for overpaying and giving the remainer to whomever makes the run.

I imagine any excess money will be converted to rum in between the track and Stampie's bar...

Mmmmmm Hogan's.
They are cash only, btw. Don't forget.

All I see is a money making opportunity here
