late last week I had noticed that the Tampa area locations of LKQ were advertising a 40% off sale this holiday weekend. So I then spent hours mapping out the the vehicles and parts I'm looking for and which of those locations have most of them. I then mapped out their row and space numbers and the parts that I was looking to pull from each one, along with the adjusted sale price.
I also currently have earned 20%, off with rewards points, and was all set to use that and the 40% off sale to get as many parts as I could from 1 location at the then combined 62% off! I just checked their website again to update any new vehicle inventory...and noticed that there was no longer a sale advertised on their home pages!
I called their 800 number and was informed that the sale has been postponed because of the uptick in covid cases, and the higher number of people anticipated at the yards because of the sale. I understand the line of thinking, but I don't like feeling like I've wasted my time is all. I have no problem wearing my face coverings all day in the junkyard, I've been doing that for months already.
So now I'm deciding if I'll go anyway? I know I'll now skip some of the larger purchases! The current inventory is actually really good for the items I'm searching for, so I may still grab the small stuff?
Just figured I'd share with some other people that would understand the frustration of missing out on deals at the junkyard!
P.S. happy Turkey day to you all!
I feel you. I'm waiting for my yards to announce their normal %50 off holiday sales. Seems they wait until the last minute lately.

Email LKQ customer service explaining that you understand, appreciate their looking out for their employees and customers safety, but am saddened as it's a tradition, that's social distant that you enjoy every year to escape (in most years) the burdens and pressures of elements of family gatherings. In response you'll get a coupon code that is significant for use on LKQ online
Just got the notice that my favorite yard will be having their 50% sell starting Friday. Guess I won't be spending Thanksgiving under a car in the junkyard.

I appreciate the suggestion! That would not have crossed my mind! I'll give it a go, can't hurt to ask! I'll let you know what their response is.

That changed quickly, 5 hours, from no news to confirmed sale this weekend. So I'm confused by the second sentence? They are having a sale this weekend, which you were looking forward to hearing about. But you will not be under a car in the junkyard this weekend? Maybe other obligations?

So I went through my list of parts and cars that I compiled and I've eliminated 80% of the parts to pull. The remaining parts are exploratory at this point anyway. So if they do work, I'll just need to grab more of them, if available at the time, on the future sale date. If they don't work...they end up being unrelated parts and have no budget effect.
I will email LKQ, as Captdownshift suggested, and will update with their reply.

I need to tweak my settings or something. LKQ never emails me when there are sales on.

Sorry I should have said Thanksgiving day. My original plan was to be in the yard at 8:30 Thursday morning. Now I guess I'll be there 8:30 Friday morning. I know you and Mr_Asa are like 5 hours south but if you guys want to join me Friday you are welcome. The website for the yard is http://gopullit.com/ if you want to check their inventory. My planned pull shouldn't take long in theory so I can help you guys if you want.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
I once forgot their website and accidentally went to upullit.com and it's a VERY different site. Save gopullit.com to your browser favorites to avoid the potential mistake in the future.

You know I had to go there, just to find out... looks like that site got “pulled”.

You have big cojones to go to a website the Capt mentions.
