Yes, I'm sober and actively looking for a Renault Fuego. I can't find one on my own; so if any of you know where one is hiding in operable condition, please send the info my way.
Plans involve using it as a daily driver until I have time to a project that's been a thought exercise for a few years a reality. It has to be a manual. I'd prefer a turbo, but any year and any engine option will if it's the right price and moves under its own power.
i know there is one still floating around the Atlanta CL, been on there for a year now

This, I fear. I've been looking for one for a while and can't even find a non-running carcass. I've even looked on Atlanta CL and have come up empty.

good luck i have been looking for years.
i have only come across 2 20k mile examples for $1500 whose engines asplode when the cars were a year old, and one had a "small dent" on the quarter that looked like a dually hit it going 20.
I'll take "Things you won't hear anywhere else on the internet" for $200, Alex.
The hatch glass is from a 924/944, turned 180 degrees.

In that case, I'll happily take one that has the glass from the hatch missing.
Seriously, if anyone has any leads, please share.
Someone posted a cl ad several months ago. Not that it would be helpful, but does show they aren't totally extinct. I'll keep an eye out. I always thought they were neat.

Is this in England?

Whew, them things is tough to find. That's all I came up with.
Good luck!
In reply to fast_eddie_72:
I genuinely appreciate you looking; I'm considering calling the guy in St. Louis, but my offer will probably offend him.
The other one seems to be in British Columbia, but sadly is an auto. That may be a good thing because driving it from western Canada to Maryland would be an adventure.
Yeah, St. Louis is delusional on the price.
I owned 2 of these back in the day, why oh why do you want one!! It was a horribly unreliable, slow POS.
I would love to do 1 with an LSX, but that's a lottery win thing.
Good luck with your search.
I suspect all the transmissions have been bought up by Europa owners. They use them for 4AG conversions.

I know. That's more or less part of the plan, but I'm also in need of a DD for a while and in my twisted mind a Fuego seems like the answer.

NoNo NO, save yourself the agony and get something more reliable like a Maserati BiTurbo or an early Vega. The Fuego's wiring make Lucas electronics look cutting edge. It's the only car I ever had where if you hit a big enough bump, the front brake pads would fall out. The transmission mounts broke on a daily basis which would snap the exhaust system.
BAD IDEA!

I'm a sucker for pain. British cars have proven far to reliable and Italian cars are too passé. French cars are the only solution.

Isn't "Fuego" synonymous with "gay"? Just askin'

Most of the guys I hang out with thought my 1.6L Miata was gay.
Unless you ride it like this:
I don't care how "gay" it is.
If you've gotta have something French, why not a Renault GTA or Peugeot 405? You know, something actually worth the hassle?
have your tried searchtempest?

2 or 3 times a day for months.
MG Bryan, do no give up on your quest. Don't listen to the nay sayers. Stick it out and one day you'll wake up, get ready for work then scoot off in the car of your dreams. You'll have a pleasurable drive with a smile on your face while other commuters are in a bad mood and wishing they were somewhere else. The systems you rebuilt and repaired will propel you down the road, change your direction at the flick of the wrist and stop you as you desire. That's a great feeling.
That day will be awesome and it will make it worth all the effort. The next day you'll hit a bump, the brake pads will fall out, you'll crash it and say to yourself "why the hell did I get a Fuego?" But that's a different story.

The only French thing worth any hassle whatsoever is jumping in the 2CV and going to the store to get a bottle of Gray Goose.
