It was just some rusted sheet steel roughly riveted to the hood. Poor car. The whole thing was chopped and cut to lighten it (didn't know this when I bought it as it was fully of leaves). The rear axle was welded solidly to the frame. I cleaned it up a bit and eventually sold it to the owner a rotary powered S600 as parts. It's kind of coming out OK. Here's a quick pic or two of the rear clip, almost ready for paint. Front clip is gonna be much harder, of course.
