I have looked at a lot of entry level 240Z's the past 30 years and I am amused at how many have the hatch full of parts. Usually it was the carbs, air cleaner, head......"only needs a head gasket".....
I'm pretty interested in this car and live nearby, what do you guys think? too much work? My plan would be pretty basic, to get it running and driving. A full on restore would be too much for me cost wise. If I could get it for $500 is it worth it?
Check for rust( everywhere... ), but I would buy it for $500. By basic, do you mean get it running, safe and then drive to work? I say go for it.
Be sure and check for rust under the battery and the frame rails under the battery. It can all be replaced, but its a PITA. I made that mistake. They rust pretty badly under the front fenders too, so if you are able, check there. Oh yeah, and everywhere else too.
Depending on the rust level, it may be worth $1,100, but it wouldn't for me. I'd think the $500 mark too. To me though, all I see is a parts car...sort of.
I guess it must have been in decent shape after all. The good ones dont last long. I had a line on two as a package deal that I still kick myself over.
